Today, I would like to share three things I love and three things I intensely dislike.

I will start with the dislikes and then conclude with the likes; leaving you on an upbeat.

Okay, here we go...

Things I Intensely Dislike -

1) People who post nothing but SELFIES on their Instagram feeds

I can't tell you how many times people (such as people at work, new people I meet, or people who simply want me to check out their Instagram feeds) end up being nothing but SELFIES of that person. And I don't mean one or two selfies, I mean THE WHOLE FEED is nothing but pictures of themselves either sticking their tongue out, pictures of them flexing their muscles, pictures of them posing for a Vogue magazine cover, or pictures of them laying on their bed all seductive-looking and wearing a full face of makeup, as if that's how they wake up in the morning.

And do you know what I do when that happens?

I instantly click on the UNFOLLOW button.

Sorry peeps, but I have no interest in looking at pictures of you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, and you.

So much of Instagram has turned into a flash mob of megalomaniacs.

2) People who forever cry, "VICTIM!" -

Have you noticed how so many people are victims of something or other lately? And so much so, that the people who are not victims are in the minority? Being a victim is the "in thing" to be nowadays. It's an attention getter. I mean, if you're not a victim, how else do you get an Instagram audience of 80k?

Everyone (including myself) has gone through terrible experiences in their lives that have affected them deeply. But as it asks in the quote above, do you use those stories to empower yourself? Or do you use them to keep yourself a victim?

I once worked with someone who was not only a victim of one thing, she was a victim of 3-4 different things that she would repeatedly tell you every day. And she used those things to keep herself from ever having to do anything to change the way she saw herself - a victim.

Yes, I think it's very important to acknowledge the painful experiences that have drastically affected our lives. However, it's even more important to transform them from being a victim into a victory

I learned some about life - the world sees me as I see myself.

3) Hand dryers in public restrooms -

Have you ever seen a more ridiculous invention in your life? Because here's what happens:

You walk into a public restroom and do whatever "business" you went in there to do. Then, you go to the sink and wash your hands. Then, you place your wet hands between the hand dryer and get a blowjob. Then, you walk over to the door to exit by taking your clean dominant hand and placing it on the doorknob that all the disgusting people who DIDN'T wash their hands touched.

Sorry, but I'm old school.

I much prefer a paper towel dispenser because I can not only dry my hands, but then also use the paper towel to open the bathroom door that is COVERED in disgusting germs and then toss it into the trash can.

Things I Love -

1) Learning new things -

I've always been someone who enjoys learning new things. And I learn best by investigation and through trial and error. I also enjoy change, so once I feel as though I've learned all I can from something, I move forward and learn something new. For me, continually learning new things keeps my mind working. And it also allows me to get out of my comfort zone and take chances. I started working when I was 15 years old and have had so many different occupations; I lost count.

When I was in my late 30s, my mother worried about me because I was still investigating. I remember her asking, "Ronnie, when are you going to grow up? You're not a kid anymore." And my response was, "I don't know, I'm still growing."

And I still feel that way. I've never been one to go for the jobs that are supposedly safe and secure because there is no such thing as a safe and secure job. Any job can be taken away from you in a split second. That's life. I've always gone for the jobs/occupations I felt passionate about.

As long as I can make a living and pay my bills, I will continue to learn new things and try different occupations.

Because my life ain't over.

I'm still growing!

2) Great Customer Service -

Over the years, I've shared a plethora of blog posts about the crappy customer service I have received. And because I'm in the customer service industry myself, I am even more critical. I have a very high standard of what customer service should look and sound like, and when that doesn't happen, I open my mouth and let these companies know about it.

However, when I DO receive great customer service, I always tell the person who serviced me how valuable they are and how much I appreciate them. I believe in letting people know when they do a great job because that allows them to know that it doesn't go unnoticed and encourages them to continue to do a great job.

Such as it was a few days ago when I went into a post office to purchase some stamps. The young woman who assisted me was without a doubt the BEST postal worker I had ever encountered in Center City, Philadelphia, which is famous for providing the worst customer service in any city I've lived. Sadly, most people here don't know what customer service is, nor do they care. But that was not the case with the lovely worker who helped me in the post office. She was friendly, knowledgeable, fast, and efficient. She was a pro. And I told her so.

I also went online, took a survey, and raved about her.

So thank you, postal worker! You renewed my faith that great customer service DOES exist!

3) Feta Cheese -

Absolutely ORGASMIC!

Need I say more?

-------------------------------------------

Please feel free to share any likes or dislikes you have. And thank you!

Have a faaaaaaaabulous rest of your week, y'all!💕

OH MY GOD, RON!!!! What you said about Instagram is so true! I have unfollowed so many people over the years because their feed is nothing but ME! ME! ME! ME! Out of all social media, Instagram is the one I feel tends to draw in the illusional, or should I say delusional LOL!!

How sweet you mentioned the young lady who gave you great customer service. And I know what you mean, customer service is pretty much nonexistent anymore. It's the same here.

I love what you said about being a victim. --- "I learned some about life - the world sees me as I see myself."

    Things I like are - getting a manicure/pedicure, a good martini, laughing.

Things I dislike intensely - People who are condescending to waiters/waitresses, waiting in long lines, seafood.

Life is betta with a little feta. LOVED that! And agree!

Hope you're having a wonderful week, Ronnie! oxo

  2. Ron, I feel the same about learning new things and taking a chance. I have a tendency to get bored after sometime, if I'm not longer learning or growing. And that's with jobs as well. As long as I know I can make a living, I see nothing wrong in trying something new. Life is too short, not to at least try, you know?

I was on Instagram very briefly, but deleted my account because I wasn't feeling it. I'm getting that way about Facebook as well. There are too many social media platforms to be on ALL of them. I have a friend who is obsessed with Instagram.

I hear you about the hand driers in public restrooms. They're stupid. Like you said, you wash and dry your hands, but then touch the door knob on the way out. EWWWWW!

I like listening to music, mint chocolate chip ice cream, watching a sunset on the beach.

I dislike cleaning and doing household chores, being stuck in traffic, going to Catholic school when I was a kid.

    FUN post, Ron!

  3. " Then, you place your wet hands between the hand dryer and get a blowjob." - ROFLMAO! Ron, that was hysterical! You are a very funny man!

You hit the nail on the head about Instagram. I'm on it, but not a lot. I'm mainly on FB, which can be a pain too. Never been on Twitter or TikTok, but a lot of my friends are. They love it.

"I believe in letting people know when they do a great job because that allows them to know that it doesn't go unnoticed and encourages them to continue to do a great job." - Yes! And I do the same thing because I think it reinforces to them how valuable they are and RARE.

Some things I like are: my first cup of French Press coffee in the morning, my dog, when I finally graduated college.

Some thing I dislike are: those damn Liberty Mutual Insurance commercials, mushrooms, gory movies

Oh, and I like reading your blog, Ron! x

  4. Hola, and good evening, Denise!

" Out of all social media, Instagram is the one I feel tends to draw in the illusional, or should I say delusional LOL!!"

HA! You're right!!!!! I can't tell you how many so called "influencers" I've met who when meeting them in person, I didn't even know it was the same person ON Instagram because they used so many filters!

Like I shared, I think it's so important to acknowledge when someone gives great customer service because it encouraging. Not to mention, so rare. The young lady in the post office was so awesome!

Loved reading your like/dislike list! Do you know I've never had a martini in my life? I only drink wine, but have always been tempted to try a martini because they look so cool!

"People who are condescending to waiters/waitresses."

Meeeeeeee too! And that's an ideal way to judge someone's character by how they treat wait staff. Some people are SO RUDE to them,

    Don't you love feta?

Thanks so much for stopping by, Denise! Hope you're having a wonderful week too!

  5. Hellooooooooooo, Daniel!

You and I sound like twin brothers! I too have a tendency to get bored, once I stop learning or growing. I need lots of mental stimulation. Like you said, as long as you can make a living and pay the bills, why not try something new? I've never been one to play it safe.

I'm on Instagram, but only post photographs. Facebook I was on for about a month when it was first launched, but then deleted my account. Same with Twitter.

One of the stores I work at has one of those hand driers in their employee restrooms and I can't stand using it. Do you know what I do? I use the TOILET PAPER to dry my hands. HA!!!

OMG, I LOVE mint chocolate chip ice cream, and so did my father!

"going to Catholic school when I was a kid"

LOL! You and me both! I went 8 years and then transferred to public school, thank god!

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a grrrreat rest of your week!

  6. Good evening, Candice!

Tee- hee! I just couldn't resist putting it that way!

"Never been on Twitter or TikTok, but a lot of my friends are. They love it."

I was on Twitter for like two seconds and then cancelled my account because I just never understood the reason for Twitter. And TikTok, no, me neither. But I know it's extremely popular from all the customers who come into my store and use it to buy things.

"I think it reinforces to them how valuable they are and RARE."

Good for you! And I agree! Just like poor customer service, it's important to speak up about the great customer service as well.

"those damn Liberty Mutual Insurance commercials"

YES! YES! YES! Anytime I hear that commercial on YouTube, immediately click on the forward button because I can't bare to hear that stupid jingle over, and over, and over again. As a matter of fact, all three on your dislike list, I feel the same.

I love me some French Press coffee! I have one of those too.

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing, Candice. Always enjoy your comments! Have a FAB rest of your week!

  9. "However, it's even more important to transform them from being a victim into a victory." _____ Thank you for sharing that, Ron, because it's so true. And you're right, so many people are "victims" nowadays and the media keeps perpetuating it. I just recently watched an interview with Chris Lemon (son of Jack Lemon) who talked about this specifically. If you keep reliving your past experiences, that's where you stay. He said you have to play the cards you were given and use them. You can't change the past, but you can transform it in the present.

I'm old school like you, bring back paper towel dispenser in public restrooms. Do you know what I do? I always keep tissues or a folded paper towel in my purse when I go out just in case I need them for things like drying my hands in bathrooms.

"Because my life ain't over. I'm still growing!" ____Way to go, Ron! I believe that staying curious about life is what keeps you involved in life.

    Things I dislike intensely

*People who are constantly late for things
    *Going to the dentist
    *Cockroaches

    Things I like (love)

    *My husband and children
    *Reading a good book
*Eating soup on a chilly fall/winter day

I also loved reading your post this morning, Ron! Happy Wednesday! xox

  10. Good morning, Abby!

"A Greek salad with TONS of feta!"

Oh, how uncanny! Isn't feta heavenly? I like a lot of other cheeses, but if I had to choose only one, it would be FETA. And I sprinkle it on everything. Sometimes I get the pre-crumbled, other times I get the block and then crumble it myself. LOVE me Mediterranean food!

Since being kid, I've always sensed that I'd be trying different things with my life. I knew I wouldn't settle for just having one job/occupations. I also had a lot of interests (like photography, acting, writing, alternative health modalities, and visiting different countries).

I miss the days when offering great customer service was an important standard with companies.

Isn't snuggling with a cat the best feeling? I had a cat (Jerry) who would snuggle with me at night when I got into bed. I loved to hear him PURRRR.

I'm not a good tester either. I honestly don't know how I got through grammar school and high school. Lol!

Thank you for stopping by and sharing, Abby! Have a faaaaaaaabulous rest of your week!

"If you keep reliving your past experiences, that's where you stay. He said you have to play the cards you were given and use them. You can't change the past, but you can transform it in the present."

Thank you so much for sharing that! Love his words of wisdom and experience! And I agree, you have play the cards you are given and use them in the present. You can't change what happened, but can certainly use it to change your perspective.

"Do you know what I do? I always keep tissues or a folded paper towel in my purse when I go out just in case I need them for things like drying my hands in bathrooms."

    SMART!

You're right, staying curious about life keeps you involved in life. And it also keeps your mind sharp.

I dislike cockroaches too!!!! And when I lived in Florida, they (Palmetto bugs) were everywhere because of the high humidity. FREAKED me out! LOL!

Eating soup on a chilly fall/winter day is one of my loves too!

Thank you for stopping by this morning, Elaine! Happy Wednesday to you!

You sound like me in many of your likes and dislikes, Ron. Customer service has gotten to the point where self-service checkout and online shopping have become my preferences. The one place I do get consistent great customer service is Trader Joe's.

I read a quote once that really resonated with me: Always walk through live as if you have something new to learn, and you will.

Feta and goat cheese are my favorites.

Have a great rest of your week, Ron!

  15. Clair I LOVE your lists!!!!

My grandmothers lasagna was fabulous too! I can still remember the taste! And speaking of pay day, mine is this Friday. Yahooooooooooo!

I'm big on respecting personal space too, and I get annoyed by those whole have no conception of it.

I am in total agreement about Trader Joe's. They give consistent outstanding customer service. And it's across the board because I've been to many locations and they are all the same. GREAT!

LOVE the quote you shared. Thank you! I think learning keeps you present, involved, and sharp.

    Goat cheese is FANTABULOUS!

Thanks so much for stopping by this morning, Candice. And thanks for sharing! Happy Wednesday!

  16. LOVE LOVE LOVE this! I immediately unfollow people who are constantly doing selfies. Honestly, I know people my age doing it and it’s ridiculous! I even have on my Instagram profile page: No Shameless Selfies. I don’t do them and I won’t look at them. Yup on the victims. It’s so prevalent now. People WANT to be offended so they can claim to be a victim. Stupidity! Here’s something I’m noticing . . . People who are trans will post on Next Door or in local Facebook groups something about them being trans and then they sit back and wait for the comments. It’s usually 50% people who praise them and 50% people who say mean sh*t. All they want us attention and that’s something I refuse to give (going back to the selfies and victims!) It’s all the same in my book.

I’d love to learn more stuff, but sometimes I feel too lazy!🤣 My top new things to learn would be astronomy, foreign languages, and multicultural cooking. Props to you for all the new careers. That’s something most people would run from! You and I are twins about customer service. The good ones are so few and far between that I remember the people for years. Ironically, I also had a great experience at the post office the last time I went. It was shocking because they’re the worst!

And I’m all about the feta!!! Have a great week, Ron! XO

  17. Isn't the whole "selfie thing" RIDICULOUS???? And what really kills me is that the selfie poses are all the same in each selfie! I can't tell you how many people I have unfollowed the second I view their feed.

" I even have on my Instagram profile page: No Shameless Selfies."

GOOD FOR YOU! I need to add that to my profile page.

Yes, to ALL that you said on victimhood!

"Here’s something I’m noticing . . . People who are trans will post on Next Door or in local Facebook groups something about them being trans and then they sit back and wait for the comments. It’s usually 50% people who praise them and 50% people who say mean sh*t. All they want is attention and that’s something I refuse to give (going back to the selfies and victims!)"

You hit the nail on the head because you're absolutely right. I know quite a few trans men and women in my line of work, and for the most part, they are always looking for negative comments. One of the trans women I work with actually yelled at a customer because she thought the customer didn't want her waiting on her because she was trans. And the customer (who I had waited on before) was nothing of the kind because she has a trans sister. What really surprised me was that one of the managers of the store heard her yell at the customer yet, she ignored it; pretending she didn't hear it.

"My top new things to learn would be astronomy, foreign languages, and multicultural cooking."

LOVE those that you mentioned. There are so many things I would love to learn. And I also love traveling to different places because you learn about different cultures.

"You and I are twins about customer service."

Ha! You got that right! Same here, whenever I go to the post office, I always seem to get the worst customer service. However, this young lady was the exception. She was awesome!

Much thanks for stopping by this morning, my friend. Alway enjoy your comments!

  18. Ron, I found myself nodding in agreement with so much of what you shared in this post - likes and dislikes. Over the past year, I have pulled away from spending a lot of time on social media because it's like the news, it's turned into a fire starter on so many issues - one, being victimization. Everyone seems to be a victim of some horrible injustice that's been done to them. I agree with what you said completely, - "the world sees me as I see myself."

Love what you said about the hand blow driers in restrooms. It used to be that I only saw them in some restrooms. But now I see them in all of them. I guess they think their saving money in not using paper towels.

I admire your attitude about try new things and branching out into unchartered waters when it comes to jobs. I wish I were more like that.

Here is my list of likes and dislikes:

    Likes:
Being the first in line at the post office in the morning
    Rainy days
Holding the door open for a lady. I enjoy being a gentleman

    Dislikes:
People who are are unkind to animals
    Crowed supermarkets on the weekends
When my cell phone battery reaches 2% because I forgot to charge it the night before

    Have a great weekend, Ron!

  19. OMG, OMG, OMG....that was freaking HILARIOUS! And do you know what's funny? I used to watch that series when it first came on and LOVED it! I loved the episode when Jason Bateman talk about taking a shower after he did a poopy in the morning. LOL!

  20. Helloooooooo there, Robert!

"Over the past year, I have pulled away from spending a lot of time on social media because it's like the news, it's turned into a fire starter on so many issues - one, being victimization."

TOTALLY agree with you! And you really can notice that in the comment section of social media because the conversations all seem to be turning LETHAL. Everyone is so angry all the time. And I think much of that has to do with the media perpetuating victimhood.

I learned early on in life what matters is how I see myself. And in turn, that is how the world will see me. I refuse to be a victim because I'm not.

You're right, I think the whole idea about the hand driers was to save money. And I also think they thought it would be more sanitary, but it's not.

LOVED both your lists! I too like to hold a door open for a lady, or letting them exit an elevator before me. Rainy days are the BEST! I think being unkind to animals is horrendous and unforgivable.

Thanks a lot for stopping by and sharing, Robert! Always great to read your comments. Have most excellent weekend!

  23. "Then, you place your wet hands between the hand dryer and get a blowjob." ROFLMAO! Ron, that totally caught me off-guard and made me howl! I'm with you, dude, I hate those hand dryers. Useless!

Because so much of my job involves social media/internet, on the weekends, I totally avoid them. You're right about Instagram - a flash mob for megalomaniacs.

I feel very similar to you about trying new things. I've had many different jobs within the same occupation, working for different companies. And with each one of those jobs, I've continued to learn new things. I think it's great to expand our mind and learn.

Dislikes: Flying because it's become such a hassle, Going through the process of buying a new car,
    The smell of cigarette smoke

    Likes: Castles, Abandoned buildings, Autumn

    Fun post, Ron!

  24. Hiya, Matt!

Useless indeed! And I keep seeing them being used more and more. BRING. BACK. PAPER TOWELS,!

And good for you for taking a break from social media and the internet on the weekends. I think that's healthy! I'm not one of these people who is constantly looking at my phone, checking for messages or updates. I need time away from my phone. I live in a city, where I see people all day long looking down at their phones and not paying attention to where they're walking.

"And with each one of those jobs, I've continued to learn new things. I think it's great to expand our mind and learn."

    A-MEN!

Loved reading both your lists because MANY I feel the same.

Flying used to be such a wonderful experience. Now. it's a nightmare. I used to smoke and I couldn't stand the smell, which is why I never smoked during the day.

Don't you love abandoned buildings? There is a photographer I follow online and he posts abandoned buildings. I find them beautiful. And yes......AUTUMN!!!!!!!

We love the same things...except for feta. Tell me what I'm missing! I want to love feta. It's always in my favorite dishes and recipes and then I'm like...DAMMIT, THERE'S FETA IN IT! 🤣I want to make friends with feta.

I enjoy learning new things too. I believe our purpose is to learn. ❤️.
I also appreciate good customer service and always leave a review when I receive it. People seem to leave negative reviews more quickly than positive ones. I've spent many years working in retail and customer service that I understand just how hard it is.

Have a wonderful weekend, my friend! 😘❤️

  26. Hellooooooooo there, Kari!

Oh, that's okay, my friend. We can't like ALL the same things.

"We love the same things...except for feta. Tell me what I'm missing! I want to love feta. It's always in my favorite dishes and recipes and then I'm like...DAMMIT, THERE'S FETA IN IT! 🤣I want to make friends with feta."

I think it's just a personal like/dislike because I adore cheese, however I do not like BRIE. Can't stand it. And people ask me all the time, "Why don't you like brie, it's delicious?!" For me, it's the texture. I don't care for soft cheeses. And I like a cheese with a powerful bunch in taste. And feta has that.

"I enjoy learning new things too. I believe our purpose is to learn. ❤️."

I do too, and that's what I used to say to my mother. I'm here to learn LOTS of things in my lifetime.

"People seem to leave negative reviews more quickly than positive ones. "

You're right, they do. And I've left negative reviews as well. However, I will equally leave RAVE reviews just as fast.

Much thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts! Have a wonderful weekend too! I can't believe tomorrow is already Friday?!?

  27. Ron, I'm right there with you on those hand-dryers in public restrooms. And I burst out laughing at the photo of the person opening that nasty door with a paper towel! Golly, I thought I was the ONLY one who did that! You know, I can remember as a little kid having to let the dog outside while we were eating dinner ... and using my forearms to open the door so I wouldn't have to touch it and wash my hands yet again!! (Must be the Virgo fear of germs, right?!)

And those selfies are exactly why I don't do Instagram, Facebook, etc. I just can't abide all those people insisting on their own importance. The perpetual victims are another nuisance. We've ALL suffered, but nobody wants to continue hearing about it.

I dislike stupidity and boorishness, as well as rudeness and crassness. I love seeing people being kind to each other and to animals, and I love the feel and scent of clean sheets on my bed!

Hope your weekend is fabulous, my friend! xx

  28. Helloooooooooooo there, Debbie!

Aren't those hand dryers the pits? I mean, what's the point of them, because saving money on purchasing paper towels?

"I can remember as a little kid having to let the dog outside while we were eating dinner ... and using my forearms to open the door so I wouldn't have to touch it and wash my hands yet again!! (Must be the Virgo fear of germs, right?!)"

HA! I think you are absolutely right, must be the Virgo in both of us that's makes us germaphobes. You should see me when I have to open the door that leads down to the train platform when I take the Regional Railway. I used a paper towel that I pre-place in my pocket so that I don't have to touch the door handle. When you take public transportation like I do, you have be very aware of touching surfaces that so many other people touched.

"The perpetual victims are another nuisance. We've ALL suffered, but nobody wants to continue hearing about it."

A-MEN! Couldn't agree with you more! It's like listening to a broken record that keeps repeating and repeating the same story over and over again.

" I love seeing people being kind to each other and to animals..."

I LOVED that! And me too! It makes you realize how our natural instinct as humans is to BE KIND.

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing, my friend! Hope you're having a fantabulous weekend!
