Thrill Your Cat With These Videos of Songbirds and Squirrels

If you want to entertain your cat, or get some juicy phone footage of your cat going nuts and peeking behind your computer screen, then play these YouTube videos of English songbirds and squirrels. Cornwall resident Paul Dinning shot hundreds of wildlife videos, in which birds (and the occasional squirrel or mouse) flit around chirping and eating seeds off a stump or fencepost.

A lot of the videos are hours long, so if you like, you could leave them on all day for your cat. They’re also relaxing background sound for humans, and the birds are varied and beautiful. Dinning edits the videos so there’s almost always a bird onscreen. There’s no music, just soft ambient birdsong and running water.

The videos, and the playlists they’re arranged into, all have similar search-optimized titles that are dizzying in aggregate. Several are even titled in different languages, just to reach more people. But they’re all high quality, cat-ready footage of birds poking around, tweeting, and flying in and out of frame.

Dinning even made a few videos that occasionally cut to housecats watching the birds, though it’s unclear whether the cats were actually on the same scene, or are just spliced in.

Your mileage may vary, as with all cat entertainment products, for they are a fickle species. But it’s all free. Get your camera ready.
