I stayed for two nights in a hotel behind the bus station, and also at the edge of the Old Town, so it was very easy to explore the area. Soon after putting down my luggage, I headed out and looked for lunch.
After lunch, I spent the day simply exploring the small town. There were a few small museums in the city, and yes I explored those. But for the most part, I just walked up and down the narrow streets, dodging Volkswagen Beetles left and right. I have no idea why, but it seems that this brand of car is the most popular here, maybe because it has an engine that is good enough to tackle the steep streets?
And yes, I was huffing and puffing as I climbed up and down. But it was fun. By this time, I got my mojo back, it seems, and I started enjoying my trip. Taxco did it for me: it's a former silver mining town, but now it is very reliant on tourism. I definitely would recommend it in case you're in the area. It is worth checking out.
