Saxony in the Summer: German Hygiene Museum

After spending four days hiking in the Saxon Switzerland National Park, as well as a couple of rest days exploring other parts of Saxony, it was time to head back home. It was a Sunday, and I had a train taking me back to Berlin that afternoon. However, I still had some time in the morning, so after having a relaxed breakfast in the hotel, I then packed my bags, and deposited it to the hotel reception. And afterwards, I headed over to the eastern part of Dresden in order to check out the German Hygiene Museum.

It is a museum with an interesting name. I thought it would be a museum that has exhibits about cleaning supplies and other hygiene products. Apparently not. It was instead a medical museum, and has plenty of interesting and informative exhibits about the human body.
The first section of the museum was all about the human body and aging. There was also a section about preservation, as well as about human medical exhibits. I saw an actual iron lung.
The next section was on taste, focusing on its physiological aspects. I also learned a lot about food and humans, and how our current food trends are causing harm. There is an exhibit dedicated to fast food, focusing on its large serving sizes.
There was a section focusing on human sexuality, as well as on our various sensory experiences.
There were also various exhibits about medical equipment. There were a few exhibit stations that were interactive, and guests were welcome to try them out.

Overall, this was a very educational museum, and I enjoyed myself more than I expected. After my visit, I found a place to have lunch, and then I slowly made my way to the hotel, picking up my bags, and then I headed back to the train station to head back home.
