The nine-time Tony Award-winning actor Tommy Tune will appear in a New York musical for the first time in many years in the coming Encores! production of “Lady, Be Good,” the show’s producers announced on Wednesday.

Mr. Tune, who is billed as a “special guest,” will dance (and act and sing) in “Fascinating Rhythm” and “Little Jazz Bird,” two numbers that personify the Jazz Age score written by George and Ira Gershwin.

The winner of Tony Awards for performing in “Seesaw” and “My One and Only” and for directing “Nine” and “Grand Hotel,” Mr. Tune left New York after a series of flops in the 1990s. He has returned for appearances in cabaret acts and his dance show “Tommy Tune Steps in Time.” Three years ago he mounted a new musical, “Fifty Four Forever,” about the famed nightclub Studio 54, in collaboration with the University of Miami.

Additional casting was also announced for “Lady, Be Good,” a Roaring Twenties romantic comedy. Danny Gardner and Patti Murin will play the central siblings, and will be joined by  Colin Donnell, Jeff Hiller and Erin Mackey, among others. Mark Brokaw will direct and Randy Skinner will be the choreographer. Rob Fisher, the founding music director of the Encores! series, will oversee new orchestrations.

The show is set to run at City Center for seven performances from Feb. 4 to Feb. 8 as the first show in the previously announced Encores! season.
