Word out of Paris this evening that tourists are on lockdown inside the Eiffel Tower as security officials respond to reports of a person acting suspiciously near the famous landmark. There are unconfirmed reports of a gunman being in the area.
The U.K.’s Daily Mail reports the Eiffel Tower incident comes as “another security scare unfolded at the Gare du Nord, where passengers on the Eurostar had to have extra security checks.”
Europe has been the site of several terrorist incidents this summer, most recently in Barcelona when a truck being driven by a Muslim extremist plowed into a crowd of tourists.
