Netflix has started letting users download shows and movies to view offline — which somehow uses less bandwidth than regular streaming. Part of this is how Netflix moves files around; the H.264/AVC High video encoding used for iPhone video downloading uses 19 percent less bandwidth on average compared to streaming. [Variety]

Number out of 887 companies that obtained a perfect score from the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index, which evaluates LGBT policies. That figure is up from 407 companies last year, with groups like Wal-Mart — which recently added insurance coverage for transgender employees — updating workplace policies since.
