It’s almost time for your child’s big thing—baseball portrait day, the annual school flute concert, his debut as a ring bearer at your cousin’s wedding—and his outfit is looking pristine. Oh yes, he’s ready for this. And then you remember: Shit, the kid’s gotta eat.

If your child has grown out of bibs, and you don’t want to tuck a napkin in his shirt because there’s an 87% chance it will slip out or get soaked through, try this trick I learned. Get a sheet of Glad Press’n Seal plastic wrap, and use it as a clothing protector. No, this is not an ad for Glad—it’s just that the Press’n Seal line grips whatever it touches, unlike regular plastic wrap, which would just fall off. (A note of caution: Plastic wrap can be a suffocation hazard—do supervise your kids while using this hack.)

The trick can save you if you’re in a pinch. You might as well stick a whole roll in your giant parent bag and bring it along to the event itself. Hey, if there are leftover donuts there for guests to bring home, you’ll be the most popular person around.
