Terry Kinney will direct Heather Graham, Gia Crovatin, Callie Thorne and Frederick Weller in the premiere of Neil LaBute’s new dark comedy, “The Money Shot,” for MCC Theater this fall, the company announced on Thursday. The production is to run Sept. 4-Oct. 12 at the Lucille Lortel Theater, with opening night set for Sept. 22.

The play is described as being about two movie stars (Ms. Graham and Mr. Weller) who are desperate for a big hit and must decide “how far will they let themselves go to keep from slipping further down the Hollywood food chain.” The play reunites Mr. LaBute, currently the playwright-in-residence at MCC Theater, with Mr. Kinney, who directed Mr. LaBute’s play “reasons to be pretty” on and off Broadway several years ago.

“The Money Shot” is the first production in MCC’s new season, which will also feature the new plays “Punk Rock,” by Simon Stephens (“The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time”); “The Nether,” a Susan Smith Blackburn Prize-winning play from Jennifer Haley; and “Permission, by Robert Askins (“Hand to God”).
