Once Upon A Time … There Was A Girl Named Meleah …

Once upon a time there was a girl named Meleah and she went through a SHITSTORM of unfortunate health and medical events – that have already been documented – which can be read/found by clicking HERE.

And then she went though ANOTHER shitstorm of events – heartbreak related – which she never fully divulged, with the exception of vague and ominous blog & Facebook posts and a few private messages – that can be read/found by clicking HERE.

And then she dropped off the face of the earth.

Well…

She’s back, y’all.

And she’s on mother-fucking-fire.

You see…

After Meleah’s extremely painful and brutal break-up she spiraled into such a depression, complete with self-destructive / self-harmful behavior, it ultimately led to the loss of her relationships with her beloved family and friends. Including her parents.

When she lost the love of her life; the man she’d loved since she was 14 years old, the man she made a million sacrifices for, the man she thought she could trust and would never betray her again, the man she helped during HIS darkest hour, but refused to help her in HER darkest hour – she lost the ability to cope – with anything.

The guilt, the shame, the pain – she felt – was so unbearable that she made several THOUSAND bad decisions, for like almost 2 years.

And then, one day, she was forced to figure out how to “pick up the pieces” – slowly.
Slowly but shirley, SHE DID.

But first, she needed a job.
A real job.
A job that she could count on and a job that made her feel good.

1. On the advice of an ex-friend, she tried managing a Vape Shop – but when the owner turned out to be a ‘King Pin’ and a convicted-felon-drug-dealer? She high-tailed it out of there.

2. She tried organizing people’s homes – because lord knows Meleah can organize THE FUCK out of any disaster. And, Meleah was really good at that job. For a hot minute. But it requited too much “effort” at that time to find new clients. And it gave her too many rheumatoid flare-ups. And, she was still drowning in that devastating depression.

3. Then she tried social media marketing/promoting – but again, that requited too much “effort” at that time freelancing. And she was still drowning in depression. And STAYING AT HOME WORKING IN HER PAJAMAS ACTUALLY MADE HER EVEN MORE SAD.

Then, one day, in the middle of last summer, things got soooooooooo bad and her life became soooooooooooooo out of control – Meleah had to sell her vehicle and give up her life on Knob Hill. Otherwise known as KHCC (Knob Hill Country Club) to those familiar with this blog. The place where she had lived since 2003. Her home.

Yet another devastating blow; to Meleah’s ever-so-shrinking-world.

However, MIRACOULUSLY, this time, Meleah did NOT wallow in sorrow.
No.

This time Meleah said, “If I have to scrub toilets … I will!”
And that’s exactly what she did.

Meleah called disability, and she waited on hold for 58 minutes, just to speak to a live person, to find out the TRUE PROTOCOL as far as “returning to work” and what exactly that entailed.

After a three-hour phone call and armed with credible information, Meleah signed up on INDEED and began her job-hunt.

Within 24 hours she had an interview at an Assisted Living Facility, less than 10 minutes from her “new” apartment for a Housekeeping position.

She explained her medical restrictions, her disability needs, and her undying love for ALL THINGS CLEAN otherwise known as OCD and she was HIRED.

———–

On July 12th 2019, Meleah started working at the Assisted Living Facility. And it CHANGED HER LIFE IN SO MANY WAYS.

And here’s why …

She leaves the house.
She gets dressed EVERY DAY – in her uniform – LOVING the fact that she doesn’t have to pick out an ‘outfit’ to wear.
She met new friends and socializes.
She burns off all of her OCD anxiety while mopping & scrubbing.
She gets fresh air and exercise.
She laughs EVERY SINGLE DAY at work.
She has sooooooo many funny stories she’s considering writing a book about the residents and the daily occurrences that happen at said job.
Her boss is a ROCK STAR that helped her realize her forgotten potential.
She feels a REAL sense of purpose.
The “Old People” love HER as much as she LOVES them.
Meleah can make a resident so happy just by giving them extra towels, or whole-heartedly following their specific ‘cleaning’ instructions.
Everyone who works there is sooooo compassionate & soooooooo understanding, it taught HER to feel/act the same.
Elvis (or other impersonators) come to entertain the residents weekly.
There’s free pizza on Saturdays!

And ULTIMATELY, all of those things have led Meleah down this new path!!

A few months ago, Meleah started thinking….

Since I’m already cleaning up bodily fluids and it legit doesn’t bother me at all – in fact – it makes ME happy to make THEM happy and to give THEM comfort – but I would like to be more HANDS ON with the residents/patients. AND, since I have so much fucking experience AS a patient, AND, since I’ve been told by people, “You should work in the medical field, or maybe become a pharmacist” – what should I do?

And that’s when Meleah started talking to the LPN’s, CNA’s, RN’s, and other medical staff that work at the Assisted Living Facility. Her co-workers spent hours (on their own free time) guiding her in the right direction. They gave her pro’s and con’s lists. They gave her realistic salaries regarding job titles, when/if she graduated and could eventually get off disability. And they even helped her find schools to check out.

And that’s when Meleah went on a mission.

Meleah found 15 schools within a 50 mile radius.
Out of those 15 schools, she narrowed it down to 4.
Then she toured all 4 schools, got financial aid paperwork, and digested her options.

[SIDE BAR: It was also during this time that Meleah re-established better communications with her beloved parents, family, and HEALTHY female friends.]

After MUCH weighing, deliberating, and contemplating
AND…
After RECEIVING so much love, support, and extreme encouragement…

Meleah is now OFFICIALLY ENROLLED, and starts SCHOOL on 03/24/2020 – to become a MEDICAL ASSISTANT (MA) including: EKG, Phlebotomy, CPR, Patient Care Technician (PCH), and Home Health Aid (HHA)!

She will graduate on 11/13/2020 – with SIX accredited national certificates which will allow her the opportunities to work in any/all doctor offices and/or hospitals, and/or, private Home Health Care.

Meleah is VERY excited.
Meleah is VERY proud of herself.
Meleah has found her CALLING in LIFE and she can’t wait to see what happens next!!

Stay tuned!

Love,
M
