There are many things to hate about smartphones but there’s one thing they definitely changed for the better. Smartphones killed boredom. Nobody will ever be bored again.
Of course, boredom is the mother of genius but that’s nitpicking.

Boredom is often found in the absence of stimulation, but should not be confused with it. If it is routine, it will become boring if nothing changes. A cornucopia of rabbit holes just becomes a rabbit warren given enough time and familiarity.

Actually, the way smartphones are so formulaic, and how they exacerbate perfunctory ritualism, aren’t such types of robotic style rituals actually the ESSENCE of boredom?
