Contrary to what you might have grown up hearing, snacking can actually be good for you if you do it right. Eating small, healthy snacks throughout the day can keep your metabolism revved up and help normalize blood sugar, according to Everyday Health. That basically gives you permission to indulge your munchies whenever you want (with limitations, of course).

Via Giphy

Harvard Health Publishing says that snacking rather than just eating three big meals can reduce your perception of fatigue because your brain will get a steady supply of nutrients. So, really, you're doing yourself a disservice if you don't munch throughout the day.

When you get in the snacking mood, the last thing you want to happen is to open your pantry and be faced with no options. Avoid this by signing up for a subscription service to receive snacks delivered to your doorstep on a regular basis.

There are snack boxes for almost any craving or dietary need you could have. Some focus on vegan or gluten-free foods, while others are jam-packed with sugary sweets. There are also options if you want to explore new foods or try out snack cuisines from other countries.

Don’t worry about sifting through all of the options out there. We rounded up the best snack subscription box services for you.

P.S. We won’t judge if you opt for the less healthy options.

MunchPak

MunchPak

Best Snack Variety

Need to be in control? MunchPak lets you choose how many snacks you want, how often your box is delivered, and what payment plan works best for you. You can also choose what you prefer or dislike, but each option you choose to customize costs a dollar.

Each box features a mix of international snacks — rather than focusing on just one country at a time — so you might receive candy from Japan and crackers from Sweden in the same package. MunchPak is more directed at getting a taste of all sorts of new snacks.

In addition to food, you’ll also receive a drink with this subscription. Your options vary depending on what size box you select, but the most inclusive option gives you the choice of water, tea, coffee, juice, soda, or an energy drink.

Instagram user @Ohayookasan writes:

“@munchpak offers a fantastic variety of yummy snacks from around the world! Three box size options and the ability to customize what you get! They're awesome!”

Like some of the other subscriptions, SnackCrate specializes in foods from all around the globe, with each monthly box themed around a specific country. Something that sets SnackCrate apart is its golden ticket-like giveaway: Every purchase of an original or premium box automatically enters you into the SnackCrate Adventure Ticket giveaway. If you find an Adventure Ticket in your crate, you win a trip to that month’s featured country.

SnackCrate offers a starter box for a lower price, so you’re able to try out the service without fully committing. After that, you can choose from mini (four to six snacks), original (eight to 10 snacks), or premium (16 to 18 snacks) sized boxes. Crates are split half and half between candy and snack foods (e.g. chips, crackers, cookies). In addition to food, you can also add a drink to your subscription order. SnackCrate orders typically ship out toward the end of the month because the snacks are coming directly from their home country and must go through United States customs.

SnackCrate reviewer Lauren M. writes:

“I love the snackcrate! It is something my husband and I look forward to every month. I think it’s mostly exciting because every month is a new country and you don’t know which one it is until you open it! 10/10 would recommend! I just wish there was a bi-monthly option. So fun!”

SnackCrate doesn’t just deliver on the small scale. The service offers an office crate with more than 150 snacks each month. You can also give SnackCrate as a gift in mini, original, and premium sizes.

Taste Trunk provides a curated box of sweets that could include full desserts or baking ingredients like sugars or sauces. Each box includes four to five treats and you’re able to choose from a three-, four-, five-, or six-month subscription. Taste Trunk is set up to be sent as a gift, but that doesn’t mean you can’t treat yourself.

Products in the Sweet Subscription are chosen from  different brands meant to compliment one another while providing variety. Aside from its curated subscriptions, Taste Trunk has the option to completely customize if you want, including sweet and savory foods, but also face masks, kitchen utensils, books, and more.

One downside to Taste Trunk is the price. A three-month subscription will run you $142 — that’s about $47 per month. The products are gourmet and the presentation is thoughtful, so consider if those are qualities you’re willing to spend a little extra dough on.

NatureBox

NatureBox

Best For Customization

NatureBox is different in the sense that it’s not just another curated box. You can decide what and how much you get, as all the items are listed à la carte. As such, the price you pay will vary depending on what you fill your box with. While this is the main feature of NatureBox, the service does provide a discovery box each month that has five pre-picked items for you to try out.

NatureBox operates on a membership system. It's free for the first 30 days, then after that they are $30 a year. With a membership you’ll receive up to 40% off every order, qualify for free shipping on all U.S. orders more than $25, get $5 in store credit every month, and take advantage of NatureBox’s snack guarantee (if you don’t love a product, the company will credit your account for the price of the item). The monthly discovery boxes are not free with a membership — you still pay a separate cost for them. Membership can be canceled free of charge any time within the free trial. After that, you can opt out of auto-renewal.

NatureBox has more than 100 snacks to choose from ranging in types and dietary needs. The service provides vegan, gluten free, Paleo, and Keto options. It even offers CBD-infused snacks. All snacks are free of artificial flavors, colors, and sweeteners. You can select the snacks on a small scale or buy them in bulk.

Reddit user u/CinemaSins writes:

"So I caved and got the Naturebox free trial. And I hate to say it, but these snacks are worth it. Just got the box today, and the snacks are delicious. The blueberry almonds in particular were good."

You don’t have to be a member to use NatureBox — you’ll just have to pay full price for everything. College students can receive 10% off their orders with NatureBox’s student discount.

UrthBox

UrthBox

Best For Extra Surprises

When you open your UrthBox, you’re greeted with full-sized products that have passed strict ingredient, sourcing, calorie, nutrition, and manufacturing standards. You have the option to choose from a one-month, three-month, or six-month subscription and from a vegan, gluten free, classic, or diet box. While they do offer these dietary options, you cannot combine them. For example, you can’t get a gluten-free vegan subscription.

Your box might include anything from sweets and chocolates to cleansing juices or superfoods and everything is GMO-free. The number of snacks included in each plan is just a starting point — each box might include more than the base number.

In addition to snacks, your UrthBox might include beverages or personal care products as added bonuses. Purchases made in the UrthBox Shop can earn you reward points that you can accumulate to save money on future purchases.

One drawback to UrthBox is the shipping time. If you place an order within a calendar month, you won’t receive your box until the middle of the following month. The box will then deliver around the same time each month after. Some reviewers had negative comments regarding subscription cancellation. In order to stop the service, you must email the company before the first of the month.
