Halifax band Dog Day dropped the second single and music video from their upcoming album Present which drops on August 14, 2020 via Fundog records.
Pictures has that retro gloom-cool 1980s new wave sound a-la Joy Division/New Order.

Directed by Seth Smith, the video finds the band performing in a field surrounded by a myriad of mirrors. Coupled with lyrics that allude to the uncomfortableness of unfamiliar social situations, a driving bass line, and airy synths, the clip blends analog effects, tongue-in-cheek subtle humour, and a dose of surrealism to deliver a true-to-form Dog Day Venn diagram that underscores the fact that not everything is as simple as it seems.
Compelling visuals continue to be a cornerstone for Dog Day, whose founding members (Seth Smith and Nancy Urich) are the filmmakers behind the highly acclaimed feature, The Crescent. Recently, director Robert Eggers gave credit to the film for inspiring some of the abstract imagery in his Oscar-nominated movie, The Lighthouse.
Seth & Nancy returned to their musical roots and reconvened with original Dog Day drummer KC Spidle (Diamondtown/Bad Vibrations) and newcomer Meg Yoshida (Not You/Bad Vibrations) to write and record a brand new, full-length record.
Present is their fifth full-length album and draws as much on a history of gothic synth rock than it does on hook-oriented post punk.
