Redstate Contributor Appears on NRATV to Talk Racism and Gun Control

This week I appeared on NRATV to join host Colion Noir in a conversation about the inherent racism of gun control.

Gun control and particularly the Second Amendment are important issues to me. I used to be staunchly anti-gun and anti-Second Amendment. I felt that the American “obsession” with guns was a direct result of that now antiquated amendment and it was time to move into the modern era to prevent more senseless gun violence.

My views changed when, while living in a high-crime urban area as a young mother my husband had to leave our family for four months for a job in another state. You can hear more details about my shift in mindset in the interview, but the long and short of it was that I realized I was helpless against criminals with guns who might seek to harm me and my babies while my husband was away. I sheepishly asked him if I could get a gun and some instruction. He was happy to see me be proactive about our safety.

As I studied the history of this country more closely, my views about gun ownership and the role it plays in our very distinct brand of freedom changed dramatically. It was an honor to share my story and my views on why all black Americans should be fighting for there Second Amendment rights with Colion Noir.

Colion’s show airs every weekday on NRATV.
