I was told that this garden was modelled after gardens of the European aristocracy. And maybe I can just about see the similarities. Inspired by Versailles, this garden provides some sort of inkling about how Mexico's 19th-century aristocracy lived. Although 2 centuries later, I find myself struggling to actually visualise that, given that the noise of the microbuses that run outside prevent me from actually being transported to a bygone age.
It is a pity that the gardens are in need of extensive restoration. Nevertheless, the building in the property also functions as a small art museum, and this is an area that Mexico seems to thrive in. I have seen plenty of very interesting art pieces, and the pictures I have above only show a sample of them.
In any case, the Jardin Borda can be an interesting escape from the hustle and bustle of Cuernavaca. Don't go here for the gardens, but go here for the art instead. Once you step in, you can forget the chaos of the city for a while.
