A man is in police custody after allegedly stabbing his roommate to death in Ridgewood last night during an argument.

Police say they responded to a 911 call about an assault taking place at 1861 Stanhope Street in Ridgewood on Wednesday night at 11:50 p.m. When they arrived on the scene, police found a 26-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds, and a 26-year-old man with one self-inflicted stab wound to his leg.

The woman was taken to Woodhull Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The man was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. A police spokesperson said no charges have been filed yet, but that the man is still in police custody.

The NYPD has not confirmed the identity of the two people involved, but sources told the Post that that the man was cartoonist Render Stetson and that his roommate was Carolyn Bush. The pair were reportedly arguing before the fatal stabbing, and a neighbor called 911 after hearing Bush begin to scream. A police spokesperson couldn't immediately say what the argument was about, only that it happened.
