We’ve covered the basics of gym etiquette before, and a lot of it is basic common sense. Put things back where you found them, share nicely, be polite. But I know a lot of you have more questions—maybe you’re even shying away from the gym (or some part of it, like the weight room) because you’re not sure what’s okay.

So here’s your opportunity to ask your most pressing gym etiquette questions, and I’ll answer them in a future post. What do you really want to know about what’s okay and what’s not in the gym? Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • How to share equipment: Is there an unwritten time limit for treadmills? A way to signal that you’re willing to let someone work in? Is it ever okay to do curls in a squat rack?

  • Being a good neighbor: Do you always have to wipe things down after you use them? Are you being too loud? What are the rules for gym selfies?

  • Communicating with others: Is there a nice way to tell someone they’re doing something wrong? How do you ask for a spotter?

Be sure to mention what kind of gym you go to, if it’s relevant to your question. (For example, different etiquette may apply in a powerlifting gym versus a yoga studio.) Sound off and let us know what you’re wondering about!
