The Joys of Throwing Toilet Paper in the Toilet Bowl

I was out of town for a bit recently. And where I was, it was not recommended to throw toilet paper into the toilet bowl because the country's plumbing systems aren't built to handle such material. So for the two weeks I was travelling, next to every toilet was a small trash can where I had to throw away my used toilet paper. When I returned home I was amazed at how much I actually missed simply chucking the used toilet paper in the same bowl. I suppose I took these things for granted.

See, I suppose this is one of the perks of travelling. It allows you to see how things can be different. Of course, the spectrum of difference can be large, but there are also small and minute differences like how you throw away the toilet paper. And all of these things add up, allowing you to see how the world can differ and at the same time be the same. It just adds more to the picture that is painted in one's mind, the picture that shows that we're all in this planet together. Populism is on the rise, but if only people would open their eyes a little bit wider, people would realise how we're all similar human beings, and there is no reason to elevate one culture above another.

Anyway, travel also makes you appreciate what you have at home. Like modern heavy-duty plumbing for example. So after two weeks of throwing away stinky toilet paper into a small trash can next to the toilet seat, when I got back home, I dutifully sat on the toilet bowl, took a dump, and wiped my ass with toilet paper which I then threw right there and then into the bowl. That was a mightily good feeling, I must say.
