The Labyrinth Theater Company, an enterprising Greenwich Village group that specializes in new work, will open its 2014-15 season with “A Sucker Emcee,” a one-man show written and performed by Craig Grant. The work is built on a blend of hip-hop, slam poetry and Mr. Grant’s personal recollections, and will be directed by Jenny Koons. It is scheduled for September, a spokeswoman for the company said, but the specific dates will be announced later. The company’s performances are at the Bank Street Theater.

Also on the schedule is a new play by Lucy Thurber, who won a 2014 Obie Award for her five-play cycle, “The Hill Town Plays.” Ms. Thurber’s work, “The Insurgents,” is about a wanderer who travels through the United States searching for something to believe in, and a meditation on historical figures and their responses to injustice. The production will be directed by Lear deBessonet, and is scheduled for early 2015.

Mimi O’Donnell, the company’s artistic director, will stage the season’s third production, “Nice Girl,” a play by Melissa Ross, whose “Thinner Than Water” the company presented in 2011. Labyrinth will also present free readings of new plays in its 16th annual Barn Series.

Further details of the productions will be announced on the company website, labtheater.org.
