Update: We live-streamed The Grand Tour Game

There was a delay, but we finally got to try it

Update 2: We were finally able to get the stream going and play some of the game! We'll be writing more about it in a few days, but I wanted to give some general thoughts.

All in all, it's pretty good! It's only a $15 game, so it's not gonna knock your socks off like say a Forza Horizon 4 would, but for $15 it's a fun, unique way to experience The Grand Tour. It very much feels like you're playing the show as a game, for better and for worse. The nice part is that you get to experience this show on your Xbox or PS4, without a Prime subscription, but there are a few things that I wish you could do in the game that it doesn't allow, which I'll get more into on Friday when we run the review.

I also wanted to point out that although the gameplay on the stream is a bit choppy, that wasn't the game, it was the stream. We're already working on ways to improve that for next time. The actual gameplay starts around the 6:20 mark in the video above. Enjoy and keep an eye out on Friday for more thoughts!

Update 1: Funny story! Apparently this game decided to not be available at 12 a.m. EST January 15th 2019, so we unfortunately couldn't stream it at that time. For everyone who still decided to pop in and hang out in the chat, thanks so much for joining! It was great talking to you all. We'll be giving it another go tomorrow. Unfortunately, we're still seeing conflicting reports of when the game will actually release, so it could be either 11 a.m. or 12 p.m. EST, but we'll be sure to stay on top of our social media game and let you guys know when we go live. Until then, thanks again for everyone who tuned in and I'm still very, very excited to share the experience of this game with all of you.

Here at Autoblog, of course we love cars. But we also love video games. So you can probably imagine our thoughts about The Grand Tour Game coming out tonight *head explodes*.

It drops at midnight EST (as in, Monday going into Tuesday).

In our excitement, we decided that now would be the perfect time to roll out a small new project we're taking on for the new year — game streaming. We hope you'll want to come along for the ride! If you absolutely hate gaming content, though, don't worry, we totally get that it's not everyone's thing, and the on-site posts will be few and far between. Primarily, we'll be streaming driving games like Rocket League, Forza Horizon 4, Mario Kart and of course The Grand Tour. Tonight, we'll be starting with TGT the second it drops at midnight on our YouTube channel, and if I don't zonk out mid-stream, the plan is to stream gameplay until the game is completely finished.

Outside of tonight, we'll be streaming on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 4 p.m. EST on YouTube, starting next week. It'll just be me tonight, but expect to see a bunch of us in the mix often, with insights on how digital cars, tracks and emotions compare to their real-world counterparts.

If you're interested in my initial thoughts about The Grand Tour Game, bookmark this page and check back tomorrow for some first impressions, or check the site Friday for a full review. I hope you'll all join me live tonight on YouTube so we can have some laughs, have some fun, and hopefully not drive a virtual Rimac off a cliff. No promises, though.
