A bold and theatrically inventive adaptation of Charlotte Brontë's 1847 literary classic that puts the interior life of the novel onto the stage. The orphaned Jane Eyre is raised by Mrs. Reed, her cruel, wealthy aunt. One day, as punishment for fighting with her cousin, Jane is imprisoned in the “red-room”, where her Uncle Reed had died. Whilst locked in, Jane sees her uncle’s ghost. Following this encounter, Jane is sent away to Lowood School, an orphan institute ran by the cruel and abusive Mr. Brocklehurst. After completing her education, Jane accepts a governess position at Thornfield Manor, where she teaches a lively French girl named Adèle. Jane’s employer at Thornfield is a dark, impassioned man named Rochester, with whom Jane secretly finds herself falling in love with. Rochester begins to reawaken Jane's hidden self that she has kept locked away since childhood. However, it appears there are darker secrets stirring in the attic...
