Three English pastoral daughters in the 19th century who seek the liberation by writing and all die young - can that still be interesting today? Sure, says committed teacher Lotte, trying to get her students interested in the great novels of the famous writers Charlotte, Emily and Anne Brontë. With little success. They find the talk of emancipation dreary and on stories of people who have been dead for 170 years, they have no desire. They seek their place in life, struggling with the expectations of their families and the fear of disappointment. "What can one hope for, what is it worth fighting for and what must one dare to do to make his own life, what are we owed to ourselves and to our talents?"
Suddenly, everything that the sisters Brontë have left to posterity in their novels and letters is surprisingly topical. And their attempt to secure their livelihood under a male pseudonym and to catch a glimpse of fame is exciting, anyway. But in order to be a writer, they must offend loved ones and not ask "what's going on".
A ravishing, clever and amusing theatrical pleasure around the timeless theme of freedom, excitingly staged, with chart-suspicious songs by Thomas Zaufke.
