Divorce is hilarious! That’s why HBO made a whole show named after it (season 3 just started, SJP fans represent). It’s also why there’s a funny subreddit called r/DivorcedBirds. It explores tropes you didn’t even realize you had stored in the back of your mind about divorce, breakups, mid-life crises, and the struggle of starting over. It shows how we humans can see ourselves reflected in anything.

Every woman with a Facebook account has gotten a message like this one, posted with a photo of a secretary bird by redditor SlightlyControversal:

Hey girl! 🤗 I just discovered THE most amazing 🙌🏻 ✨vaccine-free 🧼🤢, non-gmo ❌☠️, chemical-free 🧪🥊 mascara and now 💅🏻⏳ I own my own totally legit 👍🏻👌🏻, 100% real business🖨💸! Let me know 🗣☎️ if you would like more 🧮💯 info about this once ☝️in a life opportunity💄💋. #bossbabe 😆😂💦

And you can’t help but feel for this red-cheeked cordon-bleu, captioned by redditor purkinjeforest: “Sylvia knew that it was finally time to put herself out there and date again. With a tasteful touch of blush and a berry lip gloss, she headed to the singles mixer.”

Redditor FashiOnFashOff grabbed this screenshot from a nature video and wrote, “After spending so much time and money advocating for split custody, Charles was beginning to rethink his decisions.”

On r/DivorcedBirds you’ll see:

The subreddit was inspired by a one-off joke in 2018:

After falling quiet, the subreddit recently enjoyed a resurgence, so you’ll see lots of new pictures of divorced birds on the front page. It’s a solid collection of jokes, and great motivation to stick with your partner forever.

If you like that, you might also like the subreddits r/Birbs, r/BirdsBeingDicks, r/BirdsWithArms, r/PartyParrot, and r/CatsWithJobs, or the bird collection on humor/education blog Wait But Why.
