Golden Triangle Tour an Ideal Trip to Enchanting Destinations

Tourism in India is now considered synonymous to travel in the cities of the Golden Triangle. The three jewels of cities constituting the Golden Triangle of India are the Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. These cities have the most royal history, culture and heritage to offer to a traveler, having an expedition in these cities.

The first amongst them all and the capital of India is the state of Delhi, which boasts of sustaining three different ruling classes – the Delhi sultanate, the Mughal Empire and the British Empire is the amalgamation of all these culture. Visit the Old Delhi, as one goes about the monuments like the Jama Masjid, which is the largest religious structure ever built in India and was commissioned by Shah Jahan in 1656. Visit the Red Fort, completed in 1658; a majestic structure built in red sandstone is one of the most popular tourist attractions of the place. Humayun’s Tomb which is as old as the 16^th century is standing as one of the grandest monuments in Delhi.  Visit the Qutub Minar group of monuments in Delhi and witness the grandeur of the Delhi Sultanate. Now as you traverse through the medieval age monuments of Delhi, move to the modern historical era of India and visit the India Gate, the parliament and house and not forgetting the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi – Rajghat, all of which remind us of the struggle for freedom of India from the British.

Coming down to the second most important city of the Golden Triangle – Agra, is also called the city of love as it houses the famous wonder of the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site – the Taj Mahal. The mausoleum was built in the fond memory of the beloved wife of Shahjahan – Mumtaz Mahal. The city also houses the Agra Fort, a grand structure made in red sandstone and the Tomb of Itmd-ud-daula, made in the memory of Ghiyas Beg, commissioned by Nur Jahan.

The third city amongst the three cities in the golden triangle is Jaipur – also known as the Pink City. The city got its title when Maharaja Ram Singh got the city and painted into pink color to welcome his guests as it was considered in Jaipur that pink color denoted hospitality. It was then that Lord Albert exclaimed it to be the Pink City. The places that one could visit in Jaipur includes the City palace, which was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II and is now a museum and a royal residence, Hawa Mahal famous for its Jharokhas was built for the ladies of the royal residence as they watched street festivities, Amer fort, which offers elephant rides is a perfect example of the confluence of Hindu and Muslim architecture. Other sites include the Jantar Mantar, a royal observatory commissioned by Sawai raja Jai Singh, owing to his inclination to astronomy. The structure houses instruments for making astronomical observations. One can also visit the Nahargarh Fort, the Jal Mahal, The Jaigarh Fort, the Rambagh Palace and the Man Sagar Lake while in Jaipur.
