Apple investigating an iPhone 7 Plus that caught on fire

Twitter went crazy on Wednesday after one user posted a photo of her smoking iPhone claiming that it "blew up."

The tweet has been retweeted more than 24 thousand times and viewed over 1.25 million times. The video has even gotten the attention of Apple who says they are investigating the matter.

Apple told Mashable that, "we are in touch with the customer and looking into it."

The phone's owner, 18 year old Briana Olivas, explained that she went to the Apple store the day before the explosion because her phone wouldn't turn on.

The store fixed the phone and it seemed to be working when she left the store. She has now handed over the phone to Apple so they can conduct tests.

This isn't the first claim that an iPhone 7 caught fire. In October, a man in Australia made headlines after claiming his iPhone 7 caught fire and destroyed his car.

Out of the hundreds of comments under the original video, a large majority of people referenced Samsung whose Galaxy Note7 was recalled last year after a battery defect caused the phones to explode.
