North Korea To Greet Trump With An Inauguration Day Missile Test

Let's Play Defense, Shall We?

Donald Trump is such an unserious, buffoonish choice for the presidency, you can expect to see a LOT of our nation’s adversaries testing the waters.

There. I needed to get that out of the way, for context.

Right off the bat, the teeny-tiny despot of North Korea, Kim Jong-un, is planning an inauguration surprise for Trump.

U.S. intelligence officials (those guys Trump keeps demeaning) are saying that the indicators are there, showing Pyongyang plans a missile launch very soon. If information from South Korea is correct, it will be Friday, timed to coincide with the inauguration.

A missile launch could be more a test of how the Trump administration will handle such provocations from Pyongyang, a U.S. official who monitors North Korea told Reuters.

“If they do something, it would more likely be a test of Trump than a test of a delivery system,” the official said. “They probably want to see how he reacts to a provocation, even a minor one, and if they really want to poke him, they’ll do it right away.”

North Korea is a yapping dog, desperately straining to break off of the chain. Lately, those yaps have become more persistent, and Jong-un insists that they are ready to test an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile.

That may have been our first test of how Trump will handle these threats.

Trump responded to the announcement on Jan. 2, tweeting that the launch “won’t happen.”

“North Korea just stated that it is in the final stages of developing a nuclear weapon capable of reaching parts of the U.S.,” he tweeted. “It won’t happen!”

Of course.

Maybe they are near completion of a missile that will reach the U.S., and maybe they aren’t, Reuters, however, is reporting that experts on North Korea say the claims may be credible.

This isn’t new for North Korea, actually.

The last weak president we had, Barack Obama, received the same threats and they conducted missile testing shortly after both of Obama’s election wins.

North Korea has been under international sanctions because of their nuclear activities since 2006.

Somehow, I don’t think they care.
