Earth to Sean Payton: Russell Wilson is still on the Denver Broncos’ roster. There is nothing the Denver coach can say to make that $85 million in dead salary go away. The NFL salary cap for the 2024 season will be $255.4 million. That dead money would account for a third of their cap space, and the best that they can do to ease the hit is to spread it out over two seasons. - Stephen Knox Read More

Sitting on the couch (or in the press box) and believing that you can do, or be better at, what professional athletes accomplish every day is outrageous. But thinking you can beat up a man who’s arguably the most physically imposing quarterback the NFL has ever seen isn’t just laughable, it’s proof of why you deserved to get your ass whooped. - Carron J. Quarterback is the most important position in all of sports. The Falcons are on the hunt for a new one. And not only does their next signal-caller need to be a perfect match for the team, but for the city. Atlanta is Black as hell, which means their next starting quarterback probably will be, too. - Carron J. Phillips Read More

Update: Police claim that Damon Arnette hid a pill stuffed with meth inside his sock on the night of his arrest.

Cops stopped the former first-round pick for driving 60 mph in a 45 mph zone, according to court docs obtained by TMZ Sports.

Arnette told police that he had “substance abuse issues in the past,” and the ex-Raider was acting “unusually nervous and talkative,” leading to a K9 being summoned to the scene, per the docs. - Cale Clinton Read More

Here’s a bit of advice for professional athletes. If you’re out having fun doing your thing and happen to get into some legal trouble on your way home, make sure it isn’t violent and that it happens just before another star goes viral. This was the case over the weekend for former NFL player and current FS1 Undisputed analyst Richard Sherman, who was reportedly arrested on suspicion of DUI. - Criss Partee Read More

If the NFL Players Association’s annual team report card, which is voted on by the players from each franchise, is any indication, playing for Cincinnati Bengals’ owner Mike Brown is only a few steps divorced from suiting up for fictional Cleveland MLB owner Rachel Phelps — complete with non-working showers. - Julie DiCaro Read More

The New England Patriots are not a family-friendly organization. Color me surprised.

For the second consecutive season, the Patriots received an F- on their NFLPA report card in the “treatment of families,” category. In observing the organization from a distance for 30-plus years, warmth is certainly not a vibe I get from it. The Pats’ home stadium is eight miles from the nearest interstate exit. Being located that far into the Massachusetts tundra gives off more “off the grid compound” than “welcome friend.” - Stephen Knox Read More

Since Tyreek Hill was traded away from the Kansas City Chiefs, he allegedly smacked a guy at a marina, said he wants to be a pornstar, said he wants to fight Jake Paul, aired out his former organization multiple times, had his mansion burn down due to a child playing with fire, had his attorney accidentally file divorce papers, fired said “f*cking bonehead” lawyer, fielded a couple of paternity suits, and is now being sued by a model who alleges he broke her leg during a training exercise at his house. - Sean Beckwith Read More
