Evolving my Wardrobe

Recently, I realised that I had some clothing articles that have been with me for quite a long time. I couldn't believe I had trousers that I have been using for more than a decade. Hence, since last year I have been evolving my wardrobe. Thankfully, I have employment-based benefits that make that possible.

Since I didn't want to make a one-off large shopping spree, I made a list. Every month, I have a set allowance of how much money I want to spend on this endeavour. And so I have prioritised my clothing items with respect to which ones I need to replace soon, and which ones I can still hang on to.

This resulted last January in me purchasing three pairs of jeans. Thankfully, the department store had a sale, and I got a good bargain. This also meant that I threw away three pairs of very old trousers, some of them dating back from the early 2000s, back when I was wearing suits regularly. I remember bringing with me 4 sets of suits to Buffalo when I moved there in 2005. Those suits were custom-made: we once knew a tailor where we would simply bring fabric and he would manufacture them into suits. I don't remember where the suits are now, and the trousers are now in the trash.

I don't have any more suits, except for one. This one I bought early last year, primarily for the purpose of a job interview (who wanted me to show up in business professional attire). I didn't get the job, but nevertheless I use this suit for special occasions, such as when friends and family get married. It was quite an expensive suit (it was more expensive than a trans-Atlantic flight ticket, if I remember correctly), but people tell me I look fantastic in it.

Anyway, I don't wear suits regularly now, which is a far cry from what my wardrobe was like a decade ago. Things have changed, and for the better.
