Tyler, the Creator, a rapper in the hip-hop collective Odd Future, has reportedly been barred from the United Kingdom because of his provocative lyrical content.

The rapper’s manager, Christian Clancy, explained in a blog post that Tyler has been barred for three to five years. The mandate from the United Kingdom cited lyrics from his albums “Bastard” (2009) and “Goblin” (2011) and claimed that the music potentially “encourages violence and intolerance of homosexuality.”

“The Home Secretary has the power to exclude an individual if she considers that his or her presence in the U.K. is not conducive to the public good or if their exclusion is justified on public policy grounds,” a United Kingdom Home Office spokesperson told The Quietus.

This is not the first time Tyler has run into international trouble: He canceled a run of Australian tour dates after being criticized by a feminist group there. While the rapper’s early body of work is filled with shock value, his more recent albums have notably eschewed more derogatory material.

Tyler, the Creator was scheduled to perform at the Reading and Leeds Festival this weekend. He will embark on a United States tour with A$AP Rocky, Danny Brown and Vince Staples in September.
