Terry Riley Music Among Highlights of River to River Festival

Music created and inspired by Terry Riley, the minimalist master, will be played at Federal Hall. The Trisha Brown Dance Company will perform on the East River waterfront.  The Haitian songwriter Bélo, who calls his music “Ragganga,” will play at the South Street Seaport.

They will all be performing free as part of the 13th annual River to River Festival, which will run this year from June 19 through June 29. The festival, which takes place at a variety of spaces south of Chambers Street, will feature a wide menu of music, dance and art, and is being produced by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.

One of its highlights, the popular Bang on a Can Marathon, will return June 22 to the Winter Garden, with what presenters are describing as an “8-hour super-mix” that will feature music by David Lang, Meredith Monk, Caroline Shaw and many others.

The festival’s full lineup of music, dance and exhibits cam be found at its website.
